Recognizing suspicious contact attempts when selling (fraud warning)

Modified on Fri, 31 Jul at 10:37 AM

If you are contacted by someone and several of the following points apply, we recommend that you discontinue the contact immediately.

  • You, as the seller, are asked to pay cash (e.g. commission, brokerage fees, or intermediary charges).
  • The transaction is supposed to be conducted entirely in cash.
  • The promised profits or returns are unusually high.
  • Public meeting places, especially abroad, are proposed for the exchange of money.
  • The time and place of the meeting are changed at the last minute.
  • The purchase price is accepted without any viewing or inspection of the property.
  • Additional transactions unrelated to the property sale are to be conducted alongside the deal (e.g. currency exchange).

If you suspect fraud or receive a suspicious inquiry, please exercise caution and refrain from sharing personal, financial, or payment information.
